Pinholes of Canterbury
Project Type
Photography
Date
Nov-Dec 2023
During November & December 2022, I took part in a winter residency in Canterbury City Centre. Organised by In a Space Arts and hosted by Ahava charity shop.
During this residency, I transformed one of the former bank's rooms into a temporary darkroom. This enabled me to create a pinhole camera project, exploring the city where I grew up at a slower pace. This residency enabled me to create 20 pinhole cameras, made from coffee tins and 35mm film canisters. I took these cameras out into the city of Canterbury, exploring a slow version of a photo walk. Observing the city and capturing it via long exposures on photographic paper.
This project also included 3 funded workshops, inviting the public to experience a darkroom on the high street and develop new skills.
